Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well. This week, I have for you more information about today’s REAL ID enforcement deadline, a thank you message to everyone who attended my Senior Fair, important dates for the upcoming primary election, and a few local programs and events. As always, I hope you find the information below useful. | Today is the REAL ID enforcement deadline. Moving forward, if you plan to board a domestic flight or enter a federal building, you will need either a REAL ID, a valid passport or military ID. You may obtain a REAL ID after today’s enforcement deadline at any driver license center. PennDOT is offering a REAL ID Day on Monday, May 12, at the Norristown and King of Prussia driver license centers: both of which can process and issue a REAL ID at the time of service. To find more information and other locations, please visit: PennDOT.pa.gov/REALID | I want to take a moment to thank each vendor and individual who stopped by my Senior Fair last Thursday. It was my privilege to host this event for the senior community, and it is great knowing people left with resources and information they needed. If you were unable to attend or still have questions, please reach out to my office at 484-200-8263 or [email protected]. Special thanks to Giant, Oak Street Health, Mobility Plus, New York Life, TransNet, CAADC, GLO Guardian Group, Parkhouse, RSVP, and SVJ for donating food, water, and door prizes. | This week in the PA House, I was proud to vote yes on House Bill 630, also known as the Equal Pay bill. House Bill 630 passed the PA House 102-101 and prohibits employers from paying workers less because of their gender, race, or ethnicity and protect employees from retaliation in any wage discrimination. Read more here. The bills now move to the PA Senate for consideration. | Pennsylvania voters have until Tuesday, May 13th, to apply for an absentee or mail-in ballot and be ready to vote in the Municipal Primary Election occurring on Tuesday, May 20th! If you’re curious how our own community would be affected by these changes, take a look at the image above. Mass transit provides broad and deep benefits to our communities: increased employment opportunities, reduced vehicle congestion, enhanced tax revenue through economic growth, stimulated sustainable development, improved access to affordable housing, and better connectivity throughout neighborhoods. SEPTA can operate safely and efficiently if it is funded. Mass transit in southeastern PA provides tremendous benefit to our Southeastern PA communities, and for our region's role as the commonwealth's economic driver.
