A quick update on Selina’s case ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Dear John,

Earlier this month, we wrote to you about high school athlete Selina Soule and her bold stand for truth. I’m forwarding that message to you to make sure you didn’t miss it.

I also want to share a quick update about her case and some big news that we received.

As you may know, athletic officials in Connecticut are allowing two male high school students who identify as female to compete in women’s track and field events. And these two biological males aren’t just winning. They are dominating some of the best female athletes in the state—girls like Selina.

Since 2017, the two male athletes have won 15 women’s championship titles that were held by nine different girls the previous year.

John, this is heart-breaking. For female athletes like Selina, every boy on the podium means one fewer girl on the podium. Every female college scholarship given to a male athlete means one more girl robbed of her dream to compete at the next level.

This isn’t “progress.” And it’s not fair.

That’s why ADF attorneys filed a complaint on behalf of Selina and two other female athletes to formally request an investigation.

Thankfully, the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights has now agreed to investigate this illegal discrimination.

This is big news. And we need to keep this momentum going.

With the direction our world is going, it’s only a matter of time before what’s happening in Connecticut spreads to every state.

Activists are already pushing to rewrite federal nondiscrimination laws by adding “gender identity” as a protected class. If gender identity ideology becomes the law of the land, student athletes like Selina won’t be the only victims.

People from all walks of life will suffer the consequences.

The government’s decision to investigate the situation in Connecticut is an important first step in getting justice for women and girls like Selina.

There’s a lot at stake. And God willing, your financial support and prayers will help turn the tide as courageous people like Selina push back against these bad policies.

But make no mistake—those who oppose your freedom are in it for the long haul. They are well connected, well-funded, and ready for the fight.

Combatting that kind of money and power takes resources and determination. Through God’s provision and your faithful support, ADF wins nearly 80% of all of our cases. ADF has also become one of America's most successful constitutional advocates at the U.S. Supreme Court, having won nine cases at the High Court since 2011.

In fact, our tenth case at the U.S. Supreme Court is pending right now. It focuses on whether laws that prohibit “sex” discrimination in federal employment law include “gender identity.” The Court’s decision will likely impact female athletes like Selina across the country.

But none of this is possible without people like you. Will you stand with Selina today and defend fairness and truth?

No amount of self-perception can make a man a woman, nor change the reality of what being a woman is. And it shouldn’t fall on the shoulders of a 16-year-old like Selina to speak truth and convince people about how damaging these policies are.

You know it’s not easy. Selina is already being harassed on social media and has faced possible retaliation from some of her coaches. Too often, young people like Selina who are willing to stand for truth are treated as outcasts—like they’re the problem. This must stop.

We must support Selina and others like her who are willing to risk it all to fight for what’s right.

Please give your best gift and help keep the momentum going in Selina’s fight today.

She needs to know that wonderful people like you are standing with her.

Rise to the challenge to defend brave young women like Selina!

Dear John,

The 55-meter dash often looks like a blur. Track athletes hardly take a breath before finishing the race with just hundredths of a second between them.

But that wasn’t what high school sprinter Selina Soule experienced earlier this year at the Connecticut indoor state championships. Instead, Selina watched as two competitors crossed the finish line in the girls’ 55-meter dash well ahead of the pack.

What was different about Selina’s race that day was that the two athletes who blew away the female competition are biological males.

John, science and common sense tell us that there are real physical differences between men and women. That’s why we have women’s sports.

But if activists have their way, girls will soon end up on the sidelines of their own sports.

Thankfully, Selina and two other young women are taking a stand—and today you can help them

Selina is taking a brave stand for female athletes everywhere

Since 2017, Connecticut has allowed biological males who identify as girls to compete in high school women’s sports.

And these male athletes don’t just compete—they win.

In track and field, two male athletes have taken 15 women’s championship titles that were previously held by nine different girls.

It’s no surprise that men run faster than women, John. It isn’t because males train more. It’s because they have more muscle mass, greater bone size, and even more heart and lung capacity.

Female athletes like Selina devote countless days, nights, and weekends to training in order to shave mere fractions of a second off their race times. But now it doesn’t matter.

When Selina steps up to the starting blocks at the beginning of a race, she knows that the odds are against her.

“It’s just really frustrating and heartbreaking… We have no chance of winning [against boys].”

John, this isn’t “progress.” And it’s not fair.

That’s why Selina decided to take action—not only for herself, but for the hundreds of other girls subject to this unfair policy.

With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, she and two other female athletes filed a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights asking it to investigate this illegal discrimination.

Brave souls like Selina shouldn’t have to stand alone. Thankfully, a generous family has answered the call and provided a $2 million challenge grant to defend Selina and others like her. Will you rise to the challenge with your gift today?

These policies discriminate against women and destroy their athletic opportunities

Selina placed eighth in the race that day—just one spot away from qualifying for the 55-meter final and two spots from qualifying for the New England regional championships. And because of that, she also lost a chance to run in front of college scouts.

As an athlete, it can be disappointing to narrowly miss a goal—to be one spot out of medaling or a hundredth of a second off a qualifying time.

But this was different.

Selina had not simply been outrun by seven other girls. She had been outrun by only five other girls. First and second place were taken by two biological males.

If those male athletes weren’t in the race, Selina would’ve had the chance to run in front of the college scouts—and perhaps get offered a scholarship.

John, if you knew you couldn’t win—what incentive would you have to compete or to give up all of your free time to train? Selina’s continued dedication to her sport is a testament to a determination far beyond her years. And the choice to speak up on behalf of her fellow female athletes is admirable.

But the decision to take a public stand hasn’t come without its challenges.

Selina has been harassed on social media and has faced possible retaliation from some of her coaches. Even her state’s largest newspaper has taken the side of the male athletes, saying “the greater risk to fairness is to exclude someone from a sport because of their gender identity.”

Can you believe that, John?

Activists want you to believe that the fair thing to do is to let men beat women in female athletic competitions!

It shouldn’t fall on the shoulders of a 16-year-old like Selina to speak truth and convince people how damaging these policies are for women and girls. But these are the times we’re living in.

And for athletes like Selina, every boy on the podium means one fewer girl on the podium. Every female college scholarship given to a male athlete means one more girl robbed of her dream to compete at the next level.

That’s why your help is needed now.

Please give your best gift to help defend Selina and others like her.

Your gift furthers the impact of the challenge grant to defend women and girls like Selina

Women fought long and hard to earn equal athletic opportunities. There’s too much at stake to sit back and watch as nearly 50 years of advances for women under Title IX are thrown aside.

A biological boy’s belief about his gender doesn’t cancel out his physical advantage over girls. This is glaringly obvious in the world of sports.

Female athletes like Selina deserve better. They deserve to compete on a level playing field.

Will you stand with women and girls like Selina—and help ensure their rights are protected?

Because of the blessing of the $2 million challenge grant, you’ll join others in making an even greater impact in their fight for fairness and truth.

Thank you for giving generously.
