Our fight to stop nearly $1 trillion in proposed cuts to Medicaid
continues as House Republicans try to finalize the details of their budget
bill as we speak.

The good news is, our pressure is working. Republicans in Congress were
originally aiming to have the details completed by today, but reports
suggest there is major internal disagreement – mostly over whether or not
to include the proposed Medicaid cuts.^1

We can’t stop now, though. It is critical that we keep on the pressure as
cracks in their coalition begin to show. We could find out as soon as next
week what their final budget package looks like, including how much and
what form cuts to Medicaid will ultimately take.

Right now is our best chance to stop the Republican majority from slashing
Medicaid to pay for tax breaks for the rich — can you make a phone call
today to stop these devastating cuts?

[ [link removed] ]Call your representative using our hotline (202-978-5357) and urge them
to vote against ANY cuts to Medicaid! You can use or adapt our short
script:

Hi, my name is _______. I am a constituent and I’m a nurse/other health
care worker/patient/Medicaid recipient/ally from _______. I’m calling
today to urge you to oppose any cuts to Medicaid. Cuts to Medicaid would
take away people’s health care and lead to hospital closures, especially
in rural areas, hurting entire communities. This is unacceptable and
inhumane. I urge you to vote no on the final budget reconciliation bill if
it includes any cuts to Medicaid.

If you speak to staff in their office and they give you the members’
position on Medicaid cuts, [ [link removed] ]let us know here.

It’s now or never, . These
cuts are deeply unpopular, and House Republicans are feeling the pressure.
Even if you have already made a call to your member of Congress, please
make another today!

In solidarity,

Nurses’ Campaign to Win Medicare for All
