John, this week is National Teacher Appreciation Week.

This is an important moment for me: I spent over a decade in the classroom teaching students history. Teachers deserve the world — I know how hard they work to deliver for our children, and I am fighting for them in Congress.

One thing that I always made clear to my students is that it took people fighting for the right to vote, our Constitutional freedoms, and the life we enjoy today. Our historical heroes only became heroes once they used their voices and their people power for good.

We can move forward in this moment and fight to protect our democracy from the authoritarianism of the Trump administration, but it will take all of us to fight back.
