Rushing critical supplies to children in the wake of an emergency, such as with the recent Myanmar earthquake. When disaster strikes, UNICEF is able to deliver supplies anywhere in the world within 72 hours, ensuring children are reached as quickly as possible.
Addressing disease outbreaks with vaccination campaigns, such as in Gaza when UNICEF was able to vaccinate roughly 560,000 children under 10 from polio over 12 days due to pre-positioning supplies and being ready to act immediately when aid blockades were lifted due to a ceasefire.
Sending health and nutrition teams to reach children living under long-standing conflict in places like Yemen, where UNICEF is supporting 3,200 health facilities and the treatment of 600,000 malnourished children.
Constructing innovative, climate-conscious solutions to support children’s education. In Afghanistan, for example, UNICEF is constructing 165 schools complete with solar panel systems and boundary walls for a safe learning environment protected from the elements.
