The rights of responsible cannabis consumers continue to come under fire across the US.

This week, Virginia's governor, Republican Glenn Youngkin, vetoed a medical cannabis access bill. And, as advocates in Florida are collecting signatures for a legalization measure, their governor, Republican Ron DeSantis, signed legislation making it more difficult to qualify ballot initiatives.

Last month, a Texas appeals court ordered police in the cities of Austin and San Marcos to once again begin issuing citations and arrests to minor marijuana offenders — effectively reversing policies that had been approved by more than 80 percent of voters. In Nebraska, lawmakers recently advanced legislation significantly undermining the state’s voter-approved medical cannabis laws by banning smoking and restricting doctors’ abilities to issue authorizations when they see fit. And in New Hampshire, Senators have rejected a succession of House-backed marijuana reforms, including legalization, despite their overwhelming popularity among voters.
