Eight years ago, in the aftermath of the 2016 election, we founded Spread The Vote to fight for democracy and for America’s most disinvested communities. We believed then—and still believe now—that every single American deserves the right to participate fully in our democracy, starting with the most basic requirement: having an ID.
Since then, we’ve helped thousands of people across the country obtain the IDs they need to work, vote, find housing, access healthcare, and so much more. We’ve stood side by side with folks left behind by broken systems, and we’ve done it with determination, love, and the unshakable belief that every person matters.
I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished—and I’m even prouder of the people who made it happen. To my team, our volunteers, our partners, and every single supporter who has stood with us along the way: thank you. You are the heart of this work, and none of it would be possible without you.
Today, our commitment is stronger than ever. Our faith in the resilience and goodness of the American people is deeper than ever. And as we head into our 8th year, we’re not slowing down—we’re stepping up.
We need your support now more than ever to fight for every single American who still needs ID access and a voice in our democracy. Join us as we continue to make good trouble, spark change, and build a more just and inclusive nation—one ID at a time.
And to celebrate our anniversary month, everyone who donates in May will receive one of our brand-new stickers—and don’t miss our new 8th anniversary swag [ [link removed] ], available now!
With gratitude and determination,
Kat and the STV+PID team
