This would be optional. The state would guarantee and protect the gold of their citizens who choose and would enable the issuance of debit cards which would draw from the card-holder’s personal gold reserve. The Oklahoma House developed HB1197 and HB1199 to enable Oklahoma to give Oklahomans this option. ON March 24, 2025, the Oklahoma House passed HB1197 and HB1199 by a vote of 77 (Republicans) to 15 (Democrats) and sent the bill to the Senate for a vote. It went to the Senate retirement and government resources committee where it passed with 7 (Republican) yes votes and one (Democrat) no vote. Today, twenty-one Senators have signed onto the twin bills as authors and there are 28 Senators ready to vote yes.
