Friend,

Sometimes, it’s nice to get away from Washington, and back to my home district around real people who just want to get to know each other and rally around each other’s challenges.

Folks are fed up with the chaos in Washington, and just want to see results that actually benefit us. And it’s not easy in this environment of hate and division that extremists promote, but we have to always keep focus on the ones doing the work, not those yelling the loudest.

Below are some highlights from events over the past month that I wanted to share. But first and foremost, I want to thank you, friend. Your support allows me to support these people in making real, meaningful change. And I’m confident that if we keep going, we can bring that spirit of meaningful, working-class change back to Washington.

I had a blast walking down Main Street in Kewanee with Mayor Gary Moore meeting incredible local business owners, hearing their stories, and celebrating the heart of this community! From florists to furniture, Kewanee’s small businesses are full of pride, resilience, and hustle. I’m proud to be their partner in Washington and can’t wait to be back!

I spent time with Meals on Wheels in Rockford delivering food to real people. It’s important to learn about the impact of this program and understand why it’s better and more economical to keep senior citizens in their homes. Big thanks to my friend Larry for taking the wheel and showing me the ropes.

I was proud to visit the brand new Northern Illinois Food Bank location in Rockford, right in the heart of a former food desert. The last time I was in this building, it was a Kmart—today, it’s a lifeline. I promised I’d be back when the doors opened, and I’m grateful to see this promise fulfilled. This space is now delivering hope, dignity, and healthy meals to families who need it most.

I met at the headquarters of the wonderful nonprofit SAL Community Services, serving IL-17, western Illinois and eastern Iowa. We can’t build a strong future without investing in our youngest learners. The stories I heard were powerful reminders that cuts to early childhood education don’t just impact budgets—they impact people. I’ll keep fighting to protect and invest in these programs. Our children deserve nothing less.

And on this trip, and every trip, it’s a great privilege to fly out of one of IL-17’s four commercial airports! Here’s to keeping Central Illinois connected to the world from CIRA Bloomington-Normal!

I’m so grateful to everyone in the district, and it’s the highlight of serving my community to meet my neighbors of IL-17 where they are.

If you can, chip in a $3 grassroots contribution to help flip the Midwest blue and bring our community-first spirit to the majority in Congress.
