Dear Law Students,
I hope you are doing as best as you can during this trying time.
Summer Clerkships
Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Legislative Affairs Program is currently accepting applications for full-time remote summer clerks! Clerks will gain experience with and knowledge of animal protection issues, campaigns, and legislative advocacy, while improving skills in research and writing. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will be accepted until June 15.
Animal Law Program Fellowship
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is hiring an Animal Law Program Fellow! The Fellow will support the Animal Law Program goal to advance the emerging field of animal law in academia and legal practice by providing innovative educational opportunities and resources. The Fellow will work to develop projects and materials to provide skills, tools, and practical knowledge to law students, attorneys, and advocates engaging in legal advocacy for animals. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Animal Law Conference and Student Convention
The Animal Law Conference and Student Convention are going virtual! Due to the uncertainty of what the COVID-19 landscape will be this fall and the likelihood that social distancing orders will still be in place, we’ve made the difficult decision to transition this year’s events to fully virtual events. More information will be coming soon.
Congratulations Graduates!
If you’d like to stay involved in animal law after graduation, you can join the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Pro Bono Program. The support of attorneys nationwide is integral to helping us protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. You may also want to sign up for our Law Professional eNewsletter (check the box at the bottom of the link).
Call for Papers
We are currently accepting submissions for a panel highlighting law student scholarship on environmental impacts on animals during the Student Convention. Submit your paper by June 19.
Officer Update
If your chapter has elected its board for next school year, please submit your update so we can get in touch with the new board and let them know about our resources and opportunities for chapters.
