Dear John xxxxxx,
Sudan Advocacy EblastAct Now for Sudan
The people of Sudan are enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world today. In just one year, the conflict between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has killed tens of thousands and displaced over 15 million people. Darfur is once again the site of mass atrocities, with reports of genocide, sexual violence, and starvation used as weapons of war.
This is a critical moment and Congress must act. Take a moment—right now—to complete all three actions below. Each one is essential to stopping the violence, cutting off the weapons, and ensuring lasting peace.
TAKE ACTION NOW [[link removed]]Last month, Emgage Action mobilized communities and convened experts for Sudan Advocacy Week and a powerful webinar reflecting on the 2003 Save Darfur campaign. With voices like Professor Rebecca Hamilton and Omer Ismail, and the tireless efforts of over 20 volunteers, we brought the stories of Sudanese survivors directly to over 50 congressional offices. Their impact is already moving the needle—but we need your voice to sustain the momentum.
Legislation to Support SudanBelow are three critical legislative efforts that demand immediate action. Each addresses a unique aspect of the crisis in Sudan—from halting the flow of weapons to supporting humanitarian aid and justice for atrocity crimes. Please take the time to act on all three.
* 1. Stand Up for Sudan Act: This bill blocks U.S. arms sales to the UAE for its role in supplying weapons to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—the group behind ethnic cleansing in Darfur.
* 2. U.S. Engagement in Sudanese Peace Act: This bill outlines a comprehensive U.S. strategy for peace and accountability in Sudan by establishing a Special Envoy to coordinate diplomacy, supporting civil society in peacebuilding, and more.
* 3. Sudan Arms Embargo Resolution: This bipartisan Senate resolution urges the UN Security Council to expand its arms embargo beyond Darfur to all of Sudan—blocking weapons from reaching the RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
