One of Nellie's most important responsibilities in Congress is serving on the House Homeland Security Committee. On this committee, Nellie sounded the alarm on Republicans' move to give President Trump a blank check for nearly $70 billion.
They also rejected a whole lot of commonsense amendments, including some from Nellie. They included prohibiting the Trump administration from freezing FEMA funding to states, protecting children with cancer from deportation, and requiring this lawless administration to obey Supreme Court rulings. They even said no to providing job security and protections for veterans.
They said no to all of that.
This bad legislation is just the start. Republicans also plan to slash Medicaid and pass tax cuts for the wealthy. Their end goal isn't helping folks grapple with high grocery costs, it's giving more handouts to the wealthiest.
Nellie is a strong voice for North Jersey, who will always put the needs of working families, not billionaires, first. That's why we need her in Congress.
