Congratulations to our May Young Dem of the Month, Nick Dannenfelser! Nick is a dedicated political organizer and advocate for labor rights, currently serving as the National Committeeman for the New Jersey Young Democrats. Previously, Nick served as the NJYD Labor Caucus Chair. He also works full-time as the Legislative Director to Assemblywoman Andrea Katz, where he helps shape policy and legislative initiatives that support working families.

Growing up in a union household, Nick developed a strong awareness of class-focused politics and the labor movement. After high school, he worked as an auto technician, where he saw firsthand the challenges workers face across industries. Motivated by Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, Nick became involved in local politics, eventually co-founding the Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) College Democrats while pursuing an associate’s degree in political science. He later served as President of the College Democrats of New Jersey, mobilizing student support for Democratic candidates statewide.

After earning his political science degree from Rowan University in 2023, Nick worked as a field organizer for the Katz and Angelozzi campaign, where he personally knocked on more than 6,100 doors, contributing to the first Democratic General Assembly win in LD8 in over 50 years. Committed to progressive values, he remains focused on engaging working people in politics and advancing policies that uplift his community.
