[email protected] *Gov. Evers Seeks Applicants for Florence County District Attorney* MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today that he is seeking applicants for Florence County District Attorney. The appointment will fill a vacancy created by the passing of District Attorney Michael J. Scholke. The new district attorney will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2029.
“Michael Scholke was a respected attorney who was actively involved in his community and was excited to have recently been elected the Florence County District Attorney,” said Gov. Evers. “We offer our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and everyone in Florence County and the greater Iron Mountain community as they mourn his passing.”

Please note that the Florence County District Attorney serves on a part-time basis. A part-time district attorney may engage in a private practice of law.
