The first two quarters of the year have been quite a roller coaster!

The Convention of States movement launched with a bang. We saw unprecedented movement in many legislatures. It started as a banner year for Convention of States. And then...well, you know.

The reaction to the Chinese coronavirus shut down the whole country, along with many state legislatures. More recently, rioting and unrest has overwhelmed every major American city.

But it’s been a busy year in the fight for self-governance—here’s why.

Convention of States patriots never stopped working. We started with the COS Serves initiative, reaching out to supportive state legislators to;
* Check in on them and their families.
* Let them know we wanted to work together to serve our neighbors during the shutdown.
* Encourage them not to cede their power, but work with our teams to elevate local governance and decision making during the pandemic.

This initiative increased our legislative support and grew the grassroots base and activist leaders nationwide.

As the shutdown extended and the mandates became excessive, COS activists felt compelled to push against the tyranny. Because of the nimbleness of our organization, we were able to launch OpenTheStates.com. Our censorship-free platform gave patriots and business owners a way to organize and resist the overarching tyranny of governors and mayors. And we achieved major victories along the way.
* In Texas, our work led directly to the release and vindication of salon owner Shelley Luther.
* In California, our work pushed Gov. Newsom to relinquish control to the localities, and led to the reopening of San Diego.
* In Michigan, our partnerships with allies in the state legislature, along with petitions sent by COS activists, lifted the travel ban, ended the motorboat restriction, and jump started the reopen process.

Today, the fight for self-governance continues at all levels, and COS activists are strategically positioned in every legislative district in America to defend freedom.

Now, our fight pivots to Michigan, which is set to be the 16th state to call for a Convention of States. We have a strong endorsement from Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield, and the senate plans to consider our resolution in committee. Our efforts are focused towards passage through the Senate this month!
