Hi John,
Thank you to everyone who voted in your local May 3 election! Because of voters like you, we made major gains across the state!
Texans came together and sent a powerful, unmistakable message to the far-right extremists attempting to dominate our school boards and local governments: We’ve had enough, and we’re fighting back.

Many of our biggest victories came in local school board races. Across the state, insidious far-right groups have been taking over local boards and imposing a single-minded political agenda — banning books, passing hateful gender policies, attacking students' religious freedom, and more. But this time, voters showed up and cleaned house, replacing many of these extremists with candidates committed to putting students first over politics.
As we lift up these wins, we have to face a hard truth, John: voter turnout was still low. It always is for local elections, but that’s something we have the power to change. These races greatly affect our daily life and often come down to a handful of votes. Our wins on May 3 prove that when we pay attention and vote, we can build progressive power from the ground up.
Thank you for using your vote to advance progress in Texas. Let's take a moment to celebrate, and then get ready for the continued fight ahead!
Onward,
The TFN and TXRA Team
P.S. We're not done yet: San Antonio progressives, mark your calendars for the June 7 runoff and get ready to turn out again for TXRA-endorsed City Council Candidate Ric Galvan ✊.
