John
I spent most of last weekend in the San Diego area on our southern border, listening to law enforcement on the ground, seeing how much the border has changed in the last few months, and seeing the wall infrastructure that needs to be finished. I can report the morale for our border law enforcement is so much better than it was last year. They have reestablished drug check points. They are interdicting contraband, and they are removing people at a rapid pace.
Everywhere a gap in the wall exists, smugglers exploit our vulnerability. I'm grateful President Trump is closing the holes in the border wall that Biden left open. In places where there are gaps in the wall, law enforcement personnel are unnecessarily wasting time and energy. Inches south of our border fence in San Diego has one of the largest cities in northern Mexico, and it’s home to three major cartels.
This week back in DC, Congress is still working to prevent a tax increase on all Americans at the end of 2025 and confront some of Washington, DC's massive overspending. The Senate is also setting up a vote next week on stablecoins and confirming more nominations for ambassadors and other members of President Trump's team. It is very busy right now.
I'm also working on issues that matter to Oklahoma like FEMA reform, resources for transportation and infrastructure projects in our state, and protecting rural health care—to name a few.
Keep praying for the nation.
In God We Trust,
James Lankford
