The Best Mother’s Day Gift: Healthy Moms and Thriving Babies

Every morning, as I leave for work, my mom kisses my forehead and wishes me a good day. It’s been our daily ritual for years: a seemingly small act that means so much to me. Every morning, this is just one of the ways my mother shows her love for me.

I see that same love in the eyes of my patients — hardworking moms who’ve traveled up to 1,400 miles to reach the Project HOPE clinic in my hometown of Danli, Honduras. They’ve fled gang violence, poverty, and climate-fueled disasters in countries like Venezuela and Ecuador, all in search of safety and a better life for their family.
