This is important, John:
The Trump administration recently proposed a 25% cut to NASA in the largest-scale attack on the agency in history.
If the budget proposal passes, the scale of the devastation to NASA and the scientific community would be unprecedented. It would:
❌ End critical missions and risk our scientific leadership in the US and abroad
❌ Scale back the workforce and harm our ability to grow the future in STEM
❌ Harm our ability to monitor climate hazards including devastating wildfires
These attacks are personal to me: I served as NASA’s Chief of Staff under President Obama. I saw firsthand how people of all stripes and political beliefs put aside their differences to move the country forward together.
Now, our ability to make progress in space and science are at risk of being irreconcilably altered by this administration’s rash funding decisions.
