Folks, 1.9 million people in Virginia rely on Medicaid for health care. Yet, Republicans could still put it on the chopping block.

First of all, the reason Republicans are planning on cutting Medicaid is because they need to cut $1.5 trillion in spending to offset the cost of Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Ridiculous.

Secondly, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released an analysis saying that Republicans aren’t going to be able to make the kind of budget cuts they’re promising without slashing Medicaid.

It doesn’t matter that they know that more than 70 million Americans rely on Medicaid for health care. Or that Medicaid insures one out of every three children with cancer in the United States. Or that depending on how deep their cuts go, we could see rural hospitals close down.

Republicans want to rip health care away from MILLIONS of Americans to give tax cuts to the wealthiest few. They’d rather do whatever it takes to keep their rich, well-connected special interests happy than protect the health care of those they were elected to represent.

I promise I’ll fight these dangerous cuts every step of the way, but today, I’m asking if you’ll join me, because this isn’t a fight I can win alone. I need you to speak up and fight back.
