Dear Friend,
As Kentucky's Lieutenant Governor and a teacher who grew up on a farm in rural Burgin, I know firsthand what our educators face daily. Teacher Appreciation Week holds special meaning for me because I've walked in their shoes.
Growing up in a small town taught me the importance of our public schools. These institutions aren't just places of learning — they're the heart of our communities. Yet, teachers across our Commonwealth struggle with low pay and dwindling resources. They deserve better.
Governor Beshear and I have fought for teacher raises in every budget proposal we've submitted, only to have the Republican-controlled legislature remove them each time. This isn't just disappointing — it's harming Kentucky's future.
When I taught at Burgin High School in my hometown, I witnessed the struggle to keep talented educators in a rural school, and we often lose them within the first 3-5 years of their careers.
Your donation to the Kentucky Democratic Party today [[link removed]] will help us elect candidates committed to fair teacher pay and proper public school funding — especially in our rural communities that are often overlooked. We need leaders who understand that supporting educators isn't just about Teacher Appreciation Week; it's about year-round respect demonstrated through fair compensation.
As someone who has stood in those rural classrooms, I'm asking you to help us fight for the teachers who shape Kentucky's future. Your contribution of $25, $50, or whatever you can afford will support candidates who truly value public education across all 120 counties. [[link removed]]
This Teacher Appreciation Week, let's go beyond words of thanks and take meaningful action for Kentucky's educators.
Thank you,
