Hi John,

We hope you’re hanging in there amid the political chaos. Just know that you’re not alone, and we feel it, too. It’s easy to feel trapped in powerlessness right now. But that is precisely the time when we have the ability to affect real change—when it’s least expected.

For more than a decade, A is For has been amplifying art and artists working to eradicate abortion stigma. The abortion rights landscape looks very different now than it did in 2012. Since then we’ve seen the end of Roe v. Wade and the rapid spread of abortion bans across a third of the country. And now we’re facing even further erosion to our most basic rights at the federal level.

Despite these setbacks we still believe in a world in which every person has access to the full spectrum of reproductive healthcare free from judgment, scrutiny, and obstruction. Fighting abortion stigma and funding abortion access are not mutually exclusive. We can do both because we must do both.

Our work:

  • Our Abortion Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, May 15th to discuss Liberating Abortion by Renee Bracey Sherman and Regina Mahone. And Regina Mahone will be there! Join us for an evening of conversation and community. Register Here
  • Our all it takes is ONE ACT play festival featuring the three winning plays from our annual one-act play contest about reproductive justice will be held the last week of June at Playwrights Horizons in NYC. Stay tuned to our social media for more info!
  • In partnership with INneedAnA we are creating Advocacy Kits for community-based organizations and groups that want to take action on the local level, engage in discussion or create art about abortion. We can’t wait to share more about this new program!
  • We continue providing crucial financial assistance to on-the-ground abortion clinics, funds, and reproductive justice organizations through our Beneficiaries Program. To date, A is For has donated $282,660 to abortion providers – and other abortion access organizations – across the country.

Abortion is worth fighting for; it is a moral imperative, a fundamental aspect of our bodily autonomy. No matter what happens, A is For will be here, supporting the frontlines, and normalizing abortion and reproductive healthcare. Please join us.
