Leadership

Greetings, readers!

Today in the Leadership newsletter, it’s a good news/bad news kind of day.

First, the bad news:
In the last month, AmeriCorps has been gutted by the federal government. Since 1993, the independent agency has been a vital source of volunteer time and talent to the nonprofit sector. Advocates are now marshaling support in its defense. Next, some good news: A recently released report from the Center for Effective Philanthropy dives into the impact of MacKenzie Scott’s large unrestricted grants for recipient organizations. (Spoiler alert, they seem to be helping.) I’d wager they’re also a reminder that even in the midst of immediate threats it’s important to think big and reimagine what’s possible. The People’s Network for Land & Liberation is doing the work, building the foundation for a transformative economy from the ground up. Lastly, we bring you an illustrative clip on embracing ambivalence, from our recent webinar, “The Power of Partnership: Protecting Communities and Essential Programming through Partnerships & Mergers.”

One final bit of good news—Leadership Desk Editor Isaiah Thompson will be back on the beat next week! As always, we welcome feedback. Please feel free to email us at [email protected].
