The Trump administration has been building its attacks on public media in a way we’ve NEVER seen before in America.
Destroying PBS and NPR is central to Trump’s terrifying, anti-democratic power grab. That’s why Trump signed an executive order to END federal funding to the broadcasters just a few days ago.
Trump is trying to do it all on his own, but the law requires Congressional action. That’s why Trump is still pushing for his loyalists in the House and Senate to strip $1 billion from public media. PBS and NPR are incredibly popular, and some Republicans are wavering on this drastic funding cut. We’ve got to keep up the pressure right now and save public journalism.

Trump has spent years ramping up his smear campaign against PBS and NPR. And since January 20th, Trump, Musk, and Marjorie Taylor Greene have launched spurious federal investigations, held sham committee hearings, and led a dedicated disinformation campaign against public broadcasters.
Why? Because extreme right-wing media allies will gain even more influence if Trump succeeds.
Trump recently called NPR and PBS “radical left monsters” and “propaganda.” The White House followed up with an official release calling them “trash.”
Trump is trying to single-handedly shut down PBS and NPR even though he doesn’t have the legal authority to do it alone. At least two Republicans in Congress have expressed concerns about defunding popular public media outlets, so we can still stop these cuts.
