Will Gov. Ferguson Sign the Largest Tax Increase in Washington History?
[link removed]
Governor Ferguson could still keep his pledge to solve the budget "crisis" without burdening families by vetoing specific tax-raising or high-spending lines in the bloated $77.8 billion state budget. Thank you for recently joining us and over 33,000 citizens of our state in our petition calling on Governor Ferguson to hold true to his pledge to adopt solutions to reduce state spending. Your voice matters, and we hope WPC’s real-time research and policy recommendations help inform and empower concerned community leaders like you in holding the Governor and all of our elected leaders accountable for their actions for Washington.
We also write today to invite your consideration of WPC’s work as part of the statewide Washington Gives campaign. The state’s GiveBIG days run through May 7^th. If you plan to support your favorite Washington-based causes this year, please know that WPC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit charity. One hundred percent of our work is funded by philanthropic gifts. Every dollar and donor matter in our work for agriculture, education, energy and the environment, government reform, healthcare, small business, transportation and workers’ rights in Washington.
To support our research, outreach and free-market solutions, you can click the button below or simply visit WPC’s GiveBig page here ([link removed]) . Also, thanks to the generosity of the M.J. Murdoch Charitable Trust, any donation designated to our Young Professionals Program will be matched this year to help educate the next generation of business and community leaders from Aberdeen to Walla Walla.
Again, thank you for your interest and support in promoting our work for Washington. Together, we can make Washington more accountable, affordable and successful.

By Elizabeth New
Washington’s paid leave program drains workers’ paychecks to fund benefits most will never use — especially low-income earners, who subsidize time off for higher-wage workers. Lawmakers should have ended this regressive tax, not explored doubling it.
