Safe town centres
Many retail businesses across the borough are able to re-open from Monday. We want people to enjoy our high streets and town centres so we have implemented a range of measures to support social distancing and help keep visitors and workers safe.
We’ve also launched a dedicated web page which includes the latest information and guidance for businesses and the public – www.oldham.gov.uk/safecentres.
Our local businesses and traders will appreciate your custom and support to help them get back on their feet.

Important changes for public transport users
From Monday, face coverings will be mandatory while using public transport in England. Operators will be able to refuse travel or issue penalty fines for those who fail to wear a face covering, in a similar way to the rules on having a ticket for travel.
Face coverings are not the same as face masks. It is important that you do not use medical grade PPE masks to ensure these remain available for frontline staff. You can make your own face coverings easily at home. The most important thing is that they cover the mouth and nose while allowing you to breathe comfortably. It can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind your head to give a snug fit.
