John -
I just got back from being back on the road with my friend Maxwell Frost in another Republican-held district.
Rep. Maxwell Frost and NC Dems Chair Anderson Clayton joined me for a packed house in Saxapahaw. It’s a rural part of the state — the kind of place where Democrats haven’t historically spent enough time but where we need to close our margins.
But the reality is that plenty of people here share our values and oppose the corruption and billionaire takeover in Washington. The demand was off the charts. We could’ve filled the room at least three times over.
This town hall had an additional layer of significance because of who the incumbent Republican is. This town hall was in Richard Hudson’s backyard. He is the chair of House Republicans’ campaign arm — the one who told Republicans to stop holding town halls in March.
Well, his constituents are furious. Like so many people, they’re worried about what’s happening and don’t feel like their elected official cares about them or fights for their community.
But I also know that everybody at that town hall made clear that they are going to stay engaged. They are a part of this opposition movement we’re building together, and they’re going to make Republicans feel the heat in their own backyard.
It’s the kind of on-the-ground mobilization that matters if we are going to end this constitutional crisis, stop the giveaway to billionaires and corporations and preserve democracy.
Maxwell and I know that we can’t let up for a second. It’s a moment we’re going to look back and have to ask ourselves what we did.
If you are with us, I hope you’ll consider pitching in to fund this work. It requires significant resources to travel and mass mobilize people.
So please, split a contribution today between Maxwell Frost and my campaign to help us keep doing town halls and build an effective grassroots opposition to Trump and Musk. Anything helps. Even $1 is a powerful way to send a message that you are in this fight too.
