Trump’s Dept. of Ed is ending mental health funding for schools. ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌[[link removed]] [link removed] [[link removed]] [[link removed]]
Trump’s Department of Education just ended $1 billion dollars in funding for school mental health services – leaving students, teachers, and communities reeling. Mental health care helps prevent gun violence – including suicide and school shootings – and with gun violence as the number one killer of kids in the United States, we cannot remain silent while this critical funding is ripped away from those who need it most.
Now more than ever, Congress must do their job and act to ensure the safety of our children. Will you add your name to Brady’s urgent petition demanding lawmakers protect this funding for our kids? >> [[link removed]]

Friend,
Before I write anything more about another one of Trump’s heinous attacks on our kids I want to make one thing clear: Mental health care is one of the many ways we can prevent gun violence and prevention saves lives.
That’s why lawmakers – both Democrat and Republican – included $1 billion dollars in funding for school mental health services when they passed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in the face of one of the worst school shootings in our country’s history: The Uvalde, TX, massacre that left 19 elementary school children dead.
This life-saving funding went to 260 school districts in nearly every state in the country, supporting 14,000 new mental health professionals in schools, and is specifically meant for evidence-based solutions to mental health. Schools have initiated programs and hired counselors because funds were coming. Now, the Trump Administration has left them without money and without other solutions.
The impact of this massive cut to mental health funding is not hypothetical, friend: Our children’s safety is at risk. Their lives are at risk. Gun violence is the number one killer of kids and teens in this country and we need to fund more programs that prevent this epidemic, not slash billions.
Please, will you add your name to Brady’s urgent petition to Congress and urge them to take action to fund schools in the face of this devastating cut? >> [[link removed]]

The Trump Administration’s latest move directly undermines the lifesaving progress that was made to finally address gun violence and protect our kids from tragedies that ravage their schools and communities. This is one of many common sense policies that are being attacked nearly every day and it will not stop unless we fight back fiercely and strongly.
We owe it to our kids to keep fighting to keep them safe. Thank you for taking action today, friend.
