I just filed another lawsuit to stop the Trump administration from illegally incapacitating the Department of Health and Human Services.

I just filed another lawsuit against the Trump administration for its attacks on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HSS), an agency devoted to protecting the health and well-being of all Americans.
The administration is trying to effectively incapacitate this critical department through the unlawful mass firing of about 10,000 full-time HHS employees, the consolidation of 28 HHS divisions into 15 divisions, and the closing of half of HHS’s ten regional offices — including one in San Francisco.
These illegal actions are part of Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s so-called Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) directive. If allowed, they’ll hurt, rather than help, Americans’ health and well-being.
As a result of the MAHA directive:
- Early childhood programs are at risk, including Head Start, which hundreds of thousands of children and families rely on for child care, early education, and health support;
- Workers across the country can no longer reliably access N95 masks following the closure of the nation’s only federal mask approval laboratory;
- Key Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infectious disease laboratories have also been shuttered, including those responsible for testing and tracking measles, effectively halting the federal government’s ability to monitor the disease nationwide.
This recent mass firing, on top of other staff departures from a series of so-called “buy-outs,” means that in the last three months, HHS has lost roughly 20,000 employees.
By attacking HHS from within, Trump and RFK Jr. are putting our states and our people in harm’s way — that’s why I’m suing to stop them.
