When asked if every person in the United States has the right to due process and if he has to uphold the Constitution, he said, “I don’t know.”
Wrong answer.
The President of the United States is sworn to uphold the Constitution, and the Fifth Amendment clearly states that “no person” shall be “deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”
Trump is playing dumb and blaming the courts for stopping his unlawful, far-right agenda. Regarding his administration’s mass deportations without due process, he said, “I was elected to get them the hell out of here, and the courts are holding me from doing it.”
Once again, this is a glaring warning sign that Trump doesn’t care what the rules and responsibilities of being president entail — he is doing things his own way, acting like a dictator at the expense of our most basic rights.
