It’s Public Service Recognition Week. Email Congress to demand they stop Trump’s mass firings of federal workers!
Dear MoveOn member,
Public service workers touch all of our lives, in ways we don’t even know. They help sustain our communities and keep us safe. But since taking office, Trump and Elon Musk have fired over 120,000 federal employees from 30 federal agencies.1
When federal workers are fired, everybody suffers. From compromised food safety inspections to delayed veterans’ benefits to disrupted Social Security services, politically motivated purges of federal workers directly harm American families.
This week is Public Service Recognition Week—a time to celebrate, honor, and fight for the 2.2 million public workers in our country. Send an email to Congress now to demand they fight back against Trump’s cuts to federal workers’ jobs and services.
Federal workers' salaries make up just 4% of the federal government's budget, while their work literally keeps our water and air clean, protects our communities during natural disasters, researches cures for diseases, and so much more. And DOGE’s masquerade of “efficiency” isn’t fooling anyone.
Trump’s set on rigging the tax code for another round of tax cuts for the richest. And he plans to pay for it by slashing the federal workforce that provides critical services like transportation, research, health care, education, and so much more.
Last week, states across the country filed a lawsuit against the administration and called these mass firings unconstitutional because Trump acted unilaterally, without congressional approval.2 It’s time for Congress to do the same and fight for the millions of federal workers who keep our country running.
Will you send an email to your senators and representative in Congress to share your support of federal workers and demand they challenge and stop Trump’s cuts to our services and jobs?
Public service employees work for us, the people. And it’s up to us to fight for the critical jobs and services they provide to help sustain and keep our communities safe.
Thanks for all you do.
