A lot happened in the last month, in the last 100 days, and in the last year. And I want to thank you for what you have done in the last few months to respond.
We started April with President Trump imposing sweeping new tariffs—throwing markets into turmoil and making things more expensive and stressful for American families already struggling with rising costs. And we ended the month marking his first 100 days back in office—arguably the most damaging 100 days of any president in our history.
In just the last month, the Trump administration has:
* Fired thousands of federal health workers and scientists
* Created chaos at the Social Security Administration
* Deported people to another country without due process of law—including American citizens
* Attacked law firms, lawyers, and judges for following the law and supporting the rule of law
And through it all, House Republicans have rubber-stamped these unprecedented and unconstitutional actions, abandoning their own power and responsibility to their constituents.
Amid the chaos, though, we’ve seen powerful signs of hope and resistance:
* Democrats won a critical State Supreme Court race in Wisconsin.
* “Hands Off” demonstrations across the country—including the one I attended in Houston—became the largest day of protest yet against this administration’s policies and actions.
* And on National Law Day, I stood with lawyers from across the country to retake our oath—to support the Constitution, the rule of law, and an independent judiciary.
We have some big fights in the days and months ahead—like stopping the GOP’s devastating proposed budget cuts to Medicaid and other vital programs that people in our community and across the country rely on. But I know that, together, we can meet these challenges. And, as long as we remain engaged, focused, and strategic, we can not only win elections but win back the future for our country.
