Comrades,
Today, as we commemorate the Battle of Puebla and National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives, we are reminded that organized resistance, even against overwhelming odds, can lead to powerful victories.
In 1862, a vastly outnumbered and outgunned Mexican force stood its ground against a European empire—demonstrating that collective determination and courage can defy the expectations of history. Similarly, the Haymarket struggle, whose spirit we honor every May Day, teaches us that workers’ power, though often met with repression, leaves a legacy of resistance that shapes our movements. Moments like these, remind us that the fight for dignity, autonomy, and justice requires sacrifice, strategy, and above all, solidarity.
As members of the Santa Fe DSA, our histories offer more than inspiration—they give us a roadmap. We honor those who came before us not just with remembrance, but with action. Whether we’re organizing tenants, defending public resources, or fighting for justice in our local institutions, our strength lies in showing up for each other and moving forward together.
Let us carry the torch of Puebla and Haymarket into our work today—undaunted, unified, and committed to building a future where all people can thrive.
In solidarity,
Santa Fe DSA
