UPDATE: Last week, we sent you this email. All of it remains true, except today, Mayor Bowser announced her plan to repeal Initiative 82 - which gradually phases out the tipped minimum wage - in her upcoming budget. She said she will “restor[e] DC’s previous tipped minimum wage law.”

Her plan for a full repeal would bring the minimum wage for tipped workers back down to $5.35/hour from the current $10/hour rate. This is an outrageous attack on tipped workers and voters! Sign the petition today to stand with tipped workers.

The tipped minimum wage is under attack. We need you. As you know, DC is on a path to raise the minimum wage to the full minimum wage by 2027. This the result of the overwhelming win at the ballot of Initiative 82, where over two-thirds of voters agreed to raise the wage.

Now, you may have seen that restaurants are all over the media blaming the wages of workers for restaurant closings, despite the fact that restaurant employment in DC has reached 30,000 workers — the highest level since the pandemic, and we're doing better than the sounding region.

RAMW (the restaurant lobby) President Shawn Townsend told Axios "he's gunning for a return to the traditional tipped minimum wage and its $5.35/hour base pay."

We cannot allow these kinds of attacks on tipped workers to move forward. Commit to stand with tipped workers and DC voters today.

We believe legislation to freeze or roll-back the tipped minimum wage is coming soon. We are getting in formation to resist these attacks and maintain the wages as passed by DC voters.
