Dear Friend,
Last week marked 100 days of chaos and dysfunction in Trump's administration. The American people deserve better. Trump and Republicans in Congress are cutting veterans' healthcare, seniors’ healthcare, prescription drug benefits, educational Pell Grants for our students, and even Meals on Wheels, which provides food to our seniors. It's completely unacceptable.
Trump and his billionaire buddy, Elon Musk, have gutted the federal programs and agencies that people rely on and fired critical staff, including thousands of veterans, who deliver our Social Security checks, ensure our safe travel, and protect our clean air and water.
Trump and Musk’s cuts aren’t just numbers. They are hurting Americans whose stories deserve to be heard, no matter how much the Trump Administration would like to ignore them. Continue reading to see how my office is uplifting these stories and actively fighting to protect seniors, veterans, and working families.
Workers' Memorial Day
Congressman Norcross visits the Atlantic City Workers Monument.
This week, I introduced legislation to establish Workers’ Memorial Day as a federal holiday, honoring and remembering America’s workers who have been injured, become ill, or lost their lives on the job.
For more than 50 years —since the enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act — the labor movement has observed Workers' Memorial Day. As an electrician, I have had the unfortunate experience of witnessing hard-working Americans lose their lives on the job. This legislation is about remembering our brothers and sisters who passed away on the job and bringing more attention to the need for safe working conditions.

Labor Caucus Report on 100 Days of Trump
Congressman Norcross stands with Congressman Mark Pocan, AFL-CIO President Liz Schuler, and an AFGE member at a rally outside the Capitol in support of federal workers who keep our country running.
Donald Trump promised Americans that his administration would support workers and focus on the needs of the working class. Last week marked 100 days of his second term, and the results are clear: Trump has failed to live up to his promises. As detailed in a new Labor Caucus report, his administration has launched an unprecedented attack on workers’ rights. He’s rolling back pro-worker policies and attacking workers’ rights. While Trump is focused on making life harder for working families, I am working to make things better and ensure every worker has a fair shot.

Sharing Your Stories

Johanna, a resident of Voorhees, speaks about how the Trump Administration’s actions have affected her and her patients. |
Throughout the first 100 days of the Trump Administration, my office has invited members of our community to share your story with me. Johanna Rochat, an oncology nurse in our community, spoke to us about how some of her patients receive life-saving treatments through Medicaid, a program that Trump and congressional Republicans want to cut. Johanna told us about one of her patients, a lifelong plumber fighting cancer, who can’t work because of his diagnosis and can’t afford care without Medicaid. The story Johanna told us about her patient is unfortunately not unique. My office will continue to uplift these stories on our X, Bluesky, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
Trump-Republican Plan to Raise Costs for Students
Not only are Trump and his Republican friends in Congress trying to take away Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, but they are also making draconian cuts to grants that support education for low-income and middle-class students. Families are struggling to make ends meet, and Trump’s only solution is to take funding away from working families and give their hard-earned money to his billionaire friends.
This week, we found out that the Trump-Republican budget plan includes cutting the Pell Grant program that helps lower-income students afford college, ending an income-driven repayment program for student loans, and repealing regulations that are designed to protect students. Trump and House Republicans are doing everything they can to make education and good-paying jobs less accessible for American families. Learn more about the plan here.
