Last Week

The Senate confirmed four of President Trump’s ambassadorial nominees:

  • Former U.S. Senator David Perdue to be Ambassador to China (67-29)

  • Warren Stephens to be Ambassador to the United Kingdom (59-39)

  • Thomas Barrack to be Ambassador to Turkey (60-36)

  • Tilman Fertitta to be Ambassador to Italy (83-14)

The Senate also passed three resolutions rescinding Biden Administration environmental rules.

Conservative Spotlight

REINS ACT — HUGE NEWS. Congressional Republicans’ energy-border-tax mega bill may include Sen. Rand Paul’s REINS Act! The “Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny Act" is one of the most critical pieces of legislation written this century. It would require Congress to approve all major administrative state regulations (which cost more than $100 million). It would permanently slay the Left’s unconstitutional, Deep State model of governance. The House Judiciary Committee included a version of REINS in its draft of the Trump Mega Bill. If it stays in, the REINS Act will go down as one of President Trump’s most historic wins.

PELOSI ACT — Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) reintroduced his bill to bar members of Congress from trading stocks. He again named it the “Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act” — or “PELOSI Act” after Congress’s most notorious day-trader! It’s an outrage that the bill hasn’t become law yet. This could be the year we finally end political insider trading.

This Week

The Senate has one vote scheduled for tonight. It will consider a resolution rescinding yet another Biden Administration environmental rule — this one related to tire manufacturers.

The Senate is also expected to vote this week on Frank Bisignano’s nomination as the Social Security Administration’s commissioner.

2026 Elections

With the calendar turning to May, there are just 18 months until the 2026 mid-term elections. SCF has already endorsed five priority candidates in this election cycle who need our support.
