John,
Why are eggs so expensive? The same reason I can barely scrape by on my hourly wages: corporate greed.
The Justice Department is investigating whether a bunch of companies fixed prices for eggs. It wouldn't surprise me. These greedy companies don't care about workers or the public: just their bottom lines.
These same CEOs and corporations spend big to keep their preferred politicians in office to do their bidding. Meanwhile, the price of food, rent, healthcare, and every essential we need to survive goes up.
Enough. No more billionaire influence in Washington. Agree? Tell Congress to get billionaires out of government >>
The truth is, these greedy CEOs exploit workers like me and the public because they can do it knowing the politicians they fund won't lift a finger to stop them. Not unless we stand up to them.
So we stood up to them. Here in California, we won a huge victory when fast-food workers stood together to demand politicians give us a seat at the table. We won and now we're getting $20/hr.
Organizing works. Speaking up and joining with coworkers in solidarity works. Beating back billionaires is possible.
Tell Congress: listen to workers, NOT billionaires.
I can't wait for the day when we win. The billionaires will have egg on their faces.
In solidarity,
Angelica Hernandez
