Dear john,
Over the weekend, President Trump joined NBC News' Meet the Press for an interview, and I wanted to highlight something he said about the economy.
"When does [the economy] become the Trump economy?" Kristen Welker asked.
"It partially is right now. And I really mean this. I think the good parts are the Trump economy and the bad parts are the Biden economy," President Trump responded, mentioning President Biden 19 times in the interview according to the transcript.
How convenient.
"But what do you say to Americans who say they voted for you because they want and they need relief right now?" asked Kristen Welker.
"And they’re getting it," Trump responded.
Yet according to a recent poll from CBS News, 81% of Americans believe they're worse off or doing the same financially because of Trump's policies. That same poll also states that 72% of Americans believe the U.S. economy is getting worse or staying about the same.
