Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. | On Tuesday, Speaker Johnson presented the Congressional Gold Medal to the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, commonly known as the "Six Triple Eight." This battalion was the first and only unit of African American women to serve overseas during World War II. In the face of discrimination and in the midst of brutal wartime conditions, these brave women quickly cleared the backlog of 17 million letters in only three months, connecting loved ones to soldiers in Europe and boosting morale. Stanley Earley III and Judith Earley, children of Lieutenant Colonel Charity Adams Earley, accepted the award on behalf of the 855 women who served in the Six Triple Eight. Following House passage, Speaker Johnson said, "I want to thank First Lady Melania Trump for championing this important legislation that empowers and provides protections to victims of online sexual exploitation." | On Wednesday, Speaker Johnson delivered the keynote address at the 2025 Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America Gala. He reflected on his work to protect life over his career and highlighted House Republicans’ efforts to uphold the sanctity of every human life.
