Dear Texas Small Businesses & Economic Development Partners,

Please join us in celebrating the bold spirit and resilience of Texas entrepreneurs during *Small Business Week in Texas*, May 4 – May 10, 2025.

Texas continues to lead the nation in economic growth — and that's in large part thanks to the 3.3 million small businesses across the state. Making up more than 99% off all businesses, and employing nearly half of all working Texans, small businesses are a driving force behind Texas' record-setting job creation, innovation and exporting status. In fact, because of the hard work and determination of our small businesses, Texas is the top exporting state for the 23rd year in a row, with small businesses accounting for more than 92% of all Texas exporters.

Texas isn't stopping there. We are focused on ensuring Texas remains the best place to start and run a business in the country. That's why Governor Greg Abbott launched the Small Business Freedom Council [ [link removed] ] in December 2024. The Small Business Freedom Council gathered feedback from Texas state agencies and small business owners resulting in a report to the Texas Legislature with recommendations to cut unnecessary government regulations that hamper small business formation, operation and growth.

Throughout the year — and especially during Small Business Week — the Governor's Office of Small Business Assistance is proud to spotlight and support our entrepreneurial community. From the Governor's Small Business Resource Portal [ [link removed] ] to the Governor's Small Business Summits and Webinars [ [link removed] ], we are committed to equipping businesses with the tools needed to succeed. Because when small businesses succeed, Texas succeeds.

Governor Abbott released an official *Small Business Week in Texas Proclamation [ [link removed] ]* and First Lady Cecilia Abbott shares a *special message [ [link removed] ]* as we recognize 2025 Small Business Week in Texas.
