THE FORUM DAILY

New this morning: The Council on National Security and Immigration (CNSI) released a statement urging the administration to provide due process protections around the Alien Enemies Act.

"If the administration chooses to use this authority, it must ensure individuals receive notice of the allegations, a meaningful chance to contest them, and access to judicial review," the CNSI said.

Yesterday, in a "Meet the Press" interview with NBC News' Kristen Welker, President Donald Trump questioned the right to due process when it comes to immigrants, report Amanda Terkel and Lawrence Hurley of NBC News.

The president expressed uncertainty when asked whether he agrees with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who just last week said that everyone in the United States deserved due process.

When Welker pointed out that the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution guarantees due process for all, the president said, "I don’t know. It seems — it might say that, but if you’re talking about that, then we’d have to have a million or 2 million or 3 million trials."

The Forum also has weighed in on due process in immigration enforcement.

Meanwhile, Rwanda is in discussions with the White House on a possible deal for accepting U.S. deportees, reports Hereward Holland Reuters.

Rwanda Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe confirmed the negotiations late Sunday: "It has not yet reached a stage where we can say exactly how things will proceed, but the talks are ongoing."

On a lighter note, congratulations to Derby winner Sovereignty and his team. Ximena Bustillo of NPR spoke with Sovereignty’s jockey, Venezuela-born Junior Alvarado, beforehand and takes a look at the Latino presence in horseracing. Alexis Mathews of WLKY reported on advocacy for immigration reforms in the run-up to the Derby.
