Dear Georgian,

Last week, the House Armed Services Committee marked up its portion of the Reconciliation Bill. This legislation includes $250 million for Air Force Depot modernization which will benefit Robins AFB. I supported both of these provisions in committee and several others that will benefit Moody AFB and our armed forces overall.

This bipartisan legislation will move forward in the reconciliation process and significantly strengthen our national security by revitalizing our defense industrial base.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Meeting with Middle Georgia State University

Representatives from Middle Georgia State University came by my office last week to advocate for their outstanding School of Aviation. I visited their campus in Eastman last year and met with students who took me on a flight around the school.

Middle Georgia State University is helping our state meet the rising demand for air traffic controllers through their Air Traffic Control Program. I'm proud to represent this university and all of their future aviation professionals!

Meeting with MEAG Power

MEAG Power met with me in my D.C. office to discuss their legislative priorities for this Congress.

They provide electric power to 49 communities in Georgia that own and operate their electric distribution systems. It was great to hear about their work providing critical power to our district.

Catching Up with Georgia State Forester Johnny Sabo

Georgia is the largest timber-producing state in the southeast, and I met with Georgia State Forester Johnny Sabo to hear about ongoing timber recovery after Hurricane Helene and local forestry management.

Our state is a stellar example of proper forest management through methods like prescribed burns. Prescribed burns eliminate overgrowth that can cause dangerous wildfires in our communities. Thanks to foresters like Johnny, our state continues to have healthy forests and a successful timber industry!

Fox News | 35 Democrats vote with GOP to block Biden rule allowing Newsom's gas car ban

"Thirty-five House Democrats are rebuking the Biden administration's 11th-hour waiver that cleared a path for California to enact a full ban on gas cars by 2035.

A Republican resolution aimed at repealing the Biden-era Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) move passed by a 246 to 164 vote on Thursday morning...

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., said of the California waiver, 'This radical measure bans the sale of gas-powered vehicles, forcing electric vehicles on the American people and taking away consumer choice.'

'Americans should choose which car best suits their needs and the needs of their family, not the government,' Scalise told Fox News Digital.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., said, 'There is no reason the radical climate policies of California should regulate the entire American population and rob every American of consumer choice.'

'House Republicans are righting yet another wrong done by the Biden administration and returning basic freedom to choose whatever car you want to the American people,' Emmer told Fox News Digital...

Biden's EPA approved a waiver for California in December 2024, just over a month before he left office, that would make it possible for the state to phase out new gas-powered car sales by 2035."
