SKOWHEGAN - The Maine Department of Transportation is beginning work on a sidewalk improvement project along Norridgewock Avenue in Skowhegan. The project area spans approximately 0.35 miles, from the Margaret Chase Smith Library to Coburn Avenue.

This work includes the construction of new sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant upgrades, drainage improvements, and water utility work. Drivers should expect a single-lane of alternating traffic through the project area. This lane will have a width restriction of 11'.

Work began on April 28th and is expected to be completed by late summer. The contractor on this project is Ranger Construction of Fairfield. The contract amount is approximately $1.1 million.
