What will you do to protect the results?

No one works harder to undermine our elections than Donald Trump.

Just look at his track record:

  • He falsely claimed that the 2016 election was “rigged” and “millions of people” voted illegally,
  • He’s repeatedly invited foreign interference into our elections,
  • And now, he’s falsely asserting that mail-in ballots, one of the best ways to vote safely during a pandemic, will lead to massive voter fraud.

Our community is working tirelessly to make sure that Trump is defeated at the ballot box, but as we head toward November, we have to ask ourselves: If he loses, would it really be surprising if he cried “rigged” election?

The answer is clear -- we need to prepare for a scenario in which Trump refuses to accept the results of November’s election.

Alongside our partner organization Indivisible, we’re announcing Protect the Results: a joint project that will provide the infrastructure for mobilizing Americans should that nightmare scenario come to pass. We need you with us.

I PLEDGE TO PROTECT THE RESULTS

We need our movement to be ready to mobilize safely if Trump rejects the results of the election, especially given the added threat that the COVID-19 pandemic poses to traditional in-person voting this year.

Trump has already denounced mail-in voting as fraudulent and recently threatened to “deploy the United States military” against peaceful demonstrations, foreshadowing how he might react to an electoral loss in November. His willingness to use force against civilians exercising their First Amendment right to protest demonstrates there’s no line he won’t cross. It’s more important than ever that we protect the valid results of the election.

We’ve held elections during the Civil War, in World War I, in World War II, during the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918, and we will still hold an election on November 3. The results of this election will determine the future of our country, and the results must be respected as well as protected.

Join us and pledge to take action if Trump refuses to accept the results.  Because the bottom line has to be clear: If Trump loses the next election, he must accept those results. Our democracy depends on it.

Thanks for all you do.
