Governor Whitmer Continues to Fix the Damn Roads with Projects Starting This Week in Lenawee, Lake, Delta, and Schoolcraft Counties
LANSING, Mich. — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin road repair projects this week in several counties across the state, including Lenawee, Lake, Delta, and Schoolcraft counties. Based on economic modeling, these investments are expected to directly and indirectly support 90 jobs.
“Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school, and run errands safely,” said Governor Whitmer. “By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired, or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let’s build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan, so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs.”
M-52 Resurfacing in Lenawee County MDOT will begin resurfacing, joint repairs and installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks on approximately 12 miles of M-52 from Monroe Road to US-223 in the city of Adrian. Based on economic modeling, this $5.3 million project is expected to directly and indirectly support 51 jobs.
US-10 Chip Seal Project in Lake County MDOT is investing approximately $500,000 to improve more than three miles of US-10 from east of M-37 to Twin Creek Road. The project also includes crack sealing, pavement markings and new guardrail. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support five jobs
US-2 resurfacing project in Delta and Schoolcraft Counties MDOT is investing about $2.5 million to resurface more than nine miles of US-2 from west of M-183 to west of Carlson Road in Cooks and Garden townships, Delta and Schoolcraft counties. The project will include asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, aggregate shoulders and pavement markings. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 24 jobs.
M-35 Escanaba Resurfacing in Delta County MDOT is investing about $1 million to resurface nearly two miles of M-35 from Lakeshore Drive to US-2 in the city of Escanaba in Delta County.
The project will include asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, drainage structure repairs and cleaning, concrete curb repair, and pavement markings. Some of the work will be done at night. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 10 jobs.
