My colleagues and I reintroduced the Equality Act to protect LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination.
Four days ago, on Donald Trump’s 100th day back in office, I joined my colleagues on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to send a clear message:
We will not back down from the fight for equality.
My Democratic colleagues and I reintroduced the Equality Act – legislation that would finally guarantee federal protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in housing, employment, jury service, education, and more.
It’s a simple idea: No one should face discrimination because of who they are or who they love.
But right now, in Trump’s America, that simple idea is under attack.
Republicans control Congress, the White House, and the Supreme Court. And anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and legislation are gaining traction in states across the country.
As an openly gay member of Congress and a candidate for the U.S. Senate, I know how urgent this moment is.
We need federal protections, and we need a Senate that will fight for them.
That’s why I’m in this race. That’s why we reintroduced the Equality Act. And that’s why I’m asking for your support today.
