Dear MoveOn member,
On Thursday, President Trump signed an executive order attempting to eliminate federal funding for PBS.1
This is a direct attack on one of our nation's most trusted public institutions—one that provides essential fact-based journalism and educational programming to communities across America.
PBS brings us "Frontline," "PBS NewsHour," "Sesame Street," and countless other programs that inform, educate, and connect us. Without federal funding, many of these programs—especially in rural and underserved areas—could disappear.2
We've been here before. When Republicans previously tried to cut PBS funding, MoveOn members helped fight back and won. We can do it again—but we need your support today.
Can you chip in $5 a month to power and sustain MoveOn's work to save PBS for as long as it takes?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
This executive order isn't happening in isolation. It's part of a coordinated MAGA effort to silence independent media and control what information reaches the American public.
Reliable sources of information were already disappearing from smaller towns across America.3 The need for action is urgent.
With your support, MoveOn will:
- Flood Congress with calls demanding they protect PBS funding
- Expose Trump's plan to undermine independent media
- Mobilize MoveOn members nationwide to create a powerful public response
- Use creative tactics to put a spotlight on the urgent need to save PBS
PBS has served American families for generations, providing educational content for our children and trusted news for adults. It reaches nearly every household in America, including many communities with limited access to other educational resources.
The fight to save PBS is about more than just protecting beloved television programs—it's about preserving access to fact-based information and educational content for all Americans. And research shows a clear connection between investment in public media and higher civic engagement and voter turnout.4 No wonder Trump, Elon Musk, and their MAGA cronies want to destroy public broadcasting.
We know from experience that when we organize together, we can stop these attacks. But we need to act quickly.
Can you chip in $5 a month to help save PBS?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 a month. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Together, we can protect this vital public resource for generations to come.
Thanks for all you do.
–Britt, Amandah B., Chris, Jaira, and the rest of the team
