Your service matters.
AFSCME Family: It’s Public Service Recognition Week, and I want to thank you for the essential work you do to keep our communities healthy, safe, and strong.
You didn’t get into public service to get rich. You did it because you believe in improving the lives of others.
The work you do makes a difference. The work you do deserves respect.
But what you’ve been hearing of late is contempt, not praise, for what you do.
That contempt is coming from the White House, from billionaires like Elon Musk, and from anti-union extremists in Congress.
They’re illegally firing public service workers, rolling back our rights and freedoms, and gutting the health care, education, and public safety funding that keeps our members on the job — all to give more tax breaks to billionaires.
I know it’s disheartening — but our union has overcome big challenges before. And with your help, we can do it again.
AFSCME members are mobilizing through AFSCME GO: our Get Organized campaign.
We’re training activists to lobby Congress. We’re sharing your stories of hard work and selfless service. We’re bringing tens of thousands of new members into the AFSCME family. And we’re building the power we need to defend our jobs and the people we so proudly serve.
We need more of you to join AFSCME GO and make your voice heard.
Find out how you can become part of AFSCME GO.
We refuse to stand by idly while billionaire bullies rob our communities of vital public services. During Public Service Recognition Week — and every week — we proudly say that public service is worth fighting for.
In solidarity,
Lee Saunders
