John,
After passing budget bills out of committee last week that would cut funding for access to higher education and gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, congressional Republicans are now trying to work out the details on cruel cuts to Medicaid and SNAP nutrition benefits.
Let me make this perfectly clear: These proposed cuts to critical human needs are not about balancing the budget. They are not about fiscal responsibility. They are meant to A) pay for hundreds of billions of dollars for Donald Trump’s cruel immigrant policies, and B) hand trillions of dollars in tax breaks to billionaires and large profitable corporations.
Thankfully, our grassroots pressure is working. Many of you have emailed Congress, called their offices, gone to local events, and some have joined me in lobby meetings with key Congressional targets. And late Thursday, House Leadership announced that they have been forced to delay votes on Medicaid and SNAP cuts and on a renewal of the Trump-GOP tax scam.1
We need to keep making this cruel budget completely toxic―especially with swing-district Republicans who are crucial to stopping this bill.
Rush a donation today to remind Congress that the American people oppose fast-tracking cruel budget legislation that guts basic human needs programs—all to give tax breaks to the wealthy.

We will not stop fighting as the right-wing seeks to pass an ideological budget that would kick tens of millions of people off their health care and nutrition benefits. Instead of gutting services to fund tax cuts for the wealthy, Congress should make the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes and invest in making these services work better for the children, families, seniors, and other people who need help affording the high cost of basic essentials like food and health care.
Budgets are moral documents, and we’re demanding one that puts the needs of millions of low-income and working people over a handful of billionaires and their business interests.
Thank you for your support and partnership in this critical fight.

John,
Congressional Republicans are working hard to pass their budget that attacks critical human needs in order to pay for a renewal of Trump’s tax scam and his mass deportation policies.
This week, House Committees passed bills that attack access to higher education and gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which is meant to protect everyday people from predatory banks and businesses.
Committees also passed budget bills that would increase handouts to Pentagon contractors, and boost funding for the Judiciary and Homeland Security Departments by hundreds of billions of dollars to greatly expand immigrant detention facilities as part of the Trump administration’s war against immigrant communities and our due process rights.
Next up, House Committees are hoping to vote on more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and SNAP nutrition benefits. But, thanks to our massive grassroots opposition, they may be having trouble cobbling together the needed votes.
House Leadership announced late Thursday that House Committees have been forced to delay votes on Medicaid and SNAP cuts and a renewal of their tax scam for billionaires and large corporations.1
We’re keeping the pressure on Congress, reminding them that the American people reject their fast-tracked budget that seeks to gut basic needs programs to pay for more tax breaks for the rich. Rush a donation today to power our campaign.

Make no mistake: The cuts to critical human needs are not meant to balance the budget or rein in federal spending. They are meant to pay for more tax handouts to billionaires and billion-dollar corporations, and to expand the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrant communities.
Republicans have incredibly narrow margins to pass this draconian budget, which puts tax cuts for billionaires ahead of the health care, nutrition, and education of everyday people.

They want to pass their budget quickly, before Memorial Day. We’re telling them that the American people oppose the fast-tracking of this cruel legislation―or any proposals that make it harder for families to meet their basic needs.
Thank you for powering our campaign to demand an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
