Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-GOV) is a true testament to the power of EMILYs List.
Back in 2017, in the wake of Trump's first election, Mikie knew she had to step up and fight back — but she wasn't sure where to start. So she filled out an EMILYs List questionnaire and sent us her resume.
After hearing her story, we knew she would make an excellent candidate and future leader.
We helped Mikie launch her campaign for the U.S. House a few months later, and in 2018, she flipped New Jersey's 11th Congressional District in one of the most competitive races of the cycle.
During her campaign, she was told that "people didn’t think a woman could win in New Jersey." Mikie proved them wrong — and now, she's ready to prove the naysayers wrong again as she runs for governor.
